Final Year Student received second runner-up prize in the AGS (HK) Final Year Projects Competition 2023

Applied Earth Sciences | December 22, 2023

The Department of Earth Sciences is delighted to announce that our final year student Mis Wong Tsz Yan, Yuki (Geology (Intensive) BSc, class of 2023) was presented with the second runner-up prize in the AGS (HK) Final Year Projects Competition held on July 26, 2023. Yuki’s project was supervised by Prof. Wong Ngai Yuen, Louis and co-supervised by Mr. Tony So of the Civil Engineering and Development Department, HKSAR Government. The scope was to compare the application of mobile laser scanning and handheld laser scanning to the engineering geological studies of tunnel structures. The findings provide insights on how remote sensing technology aids a faster and safter mapping of GNSS-denied underground spaces.

The AGS (HK) Final Year Projects Competition 2023 aims at

  • recognizing excellence in the research carried out at the final year undergraduate level;
  • providing a platform for graduating engineers/geologists to polish their skills in presentation and Question and Answer; and
  • inspiring more undergraduates to carry out their final year projects in the fields of geotechnical/geological/geophysical/geo-environmental engineering.

Congratulations Yuki!
