Introducing new academic staff members Drs. Louis Wong and Pei Rui

We are very happy to announce two new academic staff members in our department, Drs. Louis Wong (Associate Professor) and Pei Rui (Postdoctoral Fellow).

Louis is actually an undergraduate alumnus of our department and obtained his PhD degree in Geotechnical Engineering from MIT. He joins us from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Louis's teaching and research interests are in engineering geology, rock mechanics and underground engineering. He was the 2014 recepient of the Richard Wolters Prize of the IAEG (International Association of Engineering Geology and Environment).

Pei Rui joins us from Columbia University where he finished his PhD in Palaeontology earlier this year. He is also an alumnus of Peking University where he received his BS and MS in Geology. Pei Rui joins Dr. Pittman's Vertebrate Palaeontology Laboratory where his research will focus on the evolutionary relationships and biology of theropod (mostly carnivorous) dinosaurs, especialy on the transition from non-avian dinosaurs to early birds.
