We are delighted to announce that Professor Guochun Zhao has been selected as one of nine Laureates of the 29th Khwarizmi International Award (KIA). Prof. Zhao received his first-class prize at the 29th KIA ceremony in Tehran, Iran on March 7, 2016 from Iran’s minister of Science, Research and Technology, Mohammad Farhadi. Professor Zhao was the first geologist to receive this award.
Established in 1987, The Khwarizmi International Award is named in memory of the achievements of Muhammad ibn Musa alKhwarizmi, the Iranian mathematician and astronomer. The Award seeks to recognize the efforts made by researchers, innovators and inventors from all over the world and to appreciate their invaluable achievements and contributions to various fields of science and technology.
