  • Speaker

Prof. Ondra Sracek Department of Geology Palacky University

About the speaker:
Professor Ondra Sracek obtained his BSc in geological engineering from Technical University of Mining Ostrava, Czech Republic, M.Sc. from University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Canada, and Ph.D. from Universite Laval, Quebec, Canada. Currently he is professor at Palacky University, Olomouc Czech Republic and visiting professor at Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, and Pontifical Catholic University, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

About the talk:
Principal types of geochemical modelling are speciation calculations, inverse geochemical modelling, direct geochemical modelling, and reactive transport modelling. Principals of each type of modelling are discussed briefly. Case study 1 presents speciation and inverse modelling of the Guarani Aquifer in Brazil. Case study 2 presents speciation, inverse modelling and reactive transport modelling at petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated site at Hnevice, Czech Republic. Finally, Case study 3 presents reactive transport modelling including development of unsaturated non-isothermal code with kinetically treated oxidation of pyrite based on the data from Mine Doyon, Quebec, Canada.
