Despite Hong Kong’s sub-tropical ecosystem, wildfires occur every year due to anthropogenic factors. With projected future climate change, wildfires may increase in frequency and intensity. To better understand and forecast wildfire behavior in Hong Kong, it is essential to characterize fuels available for wildfires. This research project aims to characterize wildfire fuels in Hong Kong using a combination of field, remote sensing, and laboratory-based methods, including novel applications of mobile terrestrial LiDAR.
