Dinosaurs had a tough start - carving out a niche was difficult, even with a novel two-legged stance. However, dinosaurs went on to become the undisputed rulers of land, evolving into many different shapes and sizes, including large four-legged forms. And then, famously, they went extinct.
Except that they didn’t.
During their reign the dinosaurs evolved a unique group of flying forms – the birds. We perhaps take birds for granted nowadays, after all there are ~10,000 species, and we eat some of them! However, our feathered friends are actually dinosaur royalty.
Find out how birds evolved and what makes them such spectacular animals, worthy of their dinosaurian ancestry.
