Daniel E. Harlov currently works for the Deutsches GeoForschungsZentrum (GFZ) in Potsdam, Germany. He has authored or coauthored more than 160 papers on geology, mineralogy and geochemistry, and is a recognized expert on experimental modeling of metasomatic processes. His career focuses on experimental equilbria between and metasomatic alteration of REE-bearing minerals, including apatite, monazite, xenotime, and allanite, experimental metasomatic alteration of zircon and garnet, the role of fluids and melts during high grade metamorphism, and genesis of Kiruna-type magnetite-apatite ore deposits and other IOCG deposits. Daniel E. Harlov also conducted research att the University of Johannesburg, South Africa as a Visiting Professor. He serves as Fellow of the American Mineralogical Society, associated editors of international journals, American Mineralogist and Lithos.
