Numerical simulations based on magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations are now firmly established as essential tools for studying many problems in solar-terrestrial and space physics. In this study, we perform a series of three-dimensional global Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) simulations of the Jovian magnetosphere to investigate the local time (LT) mapping between Jovian magnetosphere and ionosphere. The study aims to provide insights of LT relationship of M-I mapping and comparisons of Jovian and terrestrial system.
We will also introduce a numerical tool that we developed recently. The new tool solves extended magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) models where the Coulomb collision is insufficient to maintain an isotropic temperature and the system is driven to the anisotropic regime.
