Dr. Jed O. KAPLAN Department of Earth Sciences, HKU

The research group on Terrestrial Ecosystems, Climate, Environment, and Society (TERRACES) was founded by Dr. Jed Kaplan in March, 2019. Our research ranges from studies on paleoenvironmental reconstruction, weather and climate, terrestrial vegetation and biogeochemistry, and human-environment interactions. Our methods integrate computer simulation models, paleoenvironmental records, and remote sensing observations to gain a clearer understanding of how the earth system changes over time and how human activities affect the environment at large scales, from countries to the globe. In this seminar, I will give an overview of our ongoing and planned research in the coming years, introduce our team members, and explain the capabilities of our facilities. I will provide a few examples of our latest research results and the achievements of our group members.
