Prof. Bor-ming Jahn

Prof Bor-ming Jahn is a “Distinguished Chair Professor” at National Taiwan University, and is a Visiting Professor at the University of Hong Kong. He had been a professor at Universite de Rennes, France, for 27 years (1976-2003) before returning to Taiwan. He is an elected academician of Academia Sinica, and former director of IES of Academia Sinica. Prof Jahn is a famous geochemist and he applies geochemical tools and isotopic tracer techniques to a variety of geological problems, such as petrogenesis of granitoids, tectonic evolution of Archean terrains, crustal development of accretionary orogens and growth of the continental crust, etc. He is elected Fellow in 4 societies – Geol Soc of America, Mineralogical Soc of America, Geochemical Society and European Association of Geochemistry. He has been awarded "Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques”, Prestwich Prize of the Geological Society of France (2013), and International Prize of the Geological Society of Japan (2014). Prof Jahn holds honorary professorship at 10 Chinese universities and research institutions and he is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Asian Earth Sciences (since 2006). His publications (more than 230 SCI papers) have been cited more than 12,500 times.
