A special landform, inverted stream channel (ISC), has drawn much attention recently, because of the launch of 2020 NASA Perseverance Rover. The main purpose of this mission is to investigate the ISCs within Jezero Crater, which tracing to the track of interpreting paleo-hydrological activities on Mars. However, the over 50-million-kilometer distance between Earth and Mars becomes the barrier that keeps people away from chasing the mysteries of ISCs. Fortunately, there are abundant terrestrial examples of ISCs that can be studied on the fields.  Five types of ISCs are currently identified and categorized. Each of them can be a potential candidate to explain similar ISC landform on Mars. In this study, we present another astonishing ISC area that is located in the western Qaidam Basin, where is famous of wildness and high elevation. Various methods are implemented in the study, including remote sensing, field studies and Optically Stimulated Luminesces (OSL) dating method. Through this study, we plan to provide preliminary assessments to ISCs in western Qaidam Basin, especially for the interpretation of formation process, corresponding paleo-climate conditions, and later-on evolution. Applying the knowledge acquired form ISCs in western Qaidam Basin and other terrestrial examples, this may lead to the better understanding of ISCs on Mars.
