Chusi received his Ph.D. in geology from the University of Toronto, Canada, in 1993,and then worked as a postdoctoral fellow and research associate at the University of Toronto and University of Québec at Chicoutimi from 1993 to 1998. After spending the following year teaching at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, he joined the faculty of Indiana University at Bloomington, USA, and has worked there ever since. Chusi's research, teaching, and consultancy to the mineral industry have mainly focused on the geology, genesis, and exploration of magmatic sulfide deposits worldwide. He has supervised and co-supervised ~30 graduate students and visiting scholars, co-edited two books, and co-authored more than 140 refereed articles published in top-tier international geological journals. Chusi became a Fellow of the Geological Society of America in 2009 and the SEG Regional Vice President Lecturer in 2011. He has organized numerous SEG-sponsored pre-meeting short courses on magmatic sulfide deposits, including those associated with the 2005 SGA Biennial Meeting in Beijing, the 2009 International Ni Symposium in Xi’an, the 2011 GSA Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, and the 2013 PDAC in Toronto. Chusi has been a regular lecturer for the last nine annual SEG-sponsored "Ore Deposits Models and Exploration" short courses in China. As an SEG Honorary Lecturer since 2009, Chusi has delivered two to four invited speeches annually on topics related to magmatic sulfide deposits and mafic-ultramafic rocks.
