Dr. D. Kirk Nordstrom Senior Hydrogeochemist, U.S. Geological Survey

Abstract
Dr. Nordstrom and his colleagues have been sampling thermal waters for 28 years in Yellowstone National Park. Results from their work have shown that high concentrations of arsenic, fluoride, and mercury occur naturally in these thermal waters and the chemistry is quite complex with speciation being an important key to understanding element mobility.

Biography
Dr. D. Kirk Nordstrom is a Senior Hydrogeochemist with more than 40 years’ experience with the U.S. Geological Survey. He has a B.A. in Chemistry, an M.S. in Geology, and a Ph.D. in Geochemistry (Stanford University, 1977).
