The Nu Plasma ICPMS is a magnetic sector, multi collector instrument. Its current application focuses on U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotope composition studies of zircon grains. Samples are ablated using a focused laser beam (193 nm) and introduced into the ICPMS in a helium gas stream. Alternatively, aqueous samples are introduced into the ICMPS using an external nebulizer module.
